This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Silke Mathiesen, our Business Support Coordinator in Coppenhagen. Her role is varied, people-focused and plays an important part in making the office a great place to work.

How long have you worked at Kuba?

I have worked at Kuba for 2 years. I started as a part time office assistant, and my role has grown over time.

Why did you choose Kuba?

I chose Kuba because it offered the opportunity to explore a career path within IT, whilst working in a varied environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn.

What does your day-to-day work look like?

My days are rarely the same, as my work is very dynamic and depends on what is needed. I support different teams and departments with a mix of administrative and ad hoc tasks, while also making sure the Copenhagen office runs smoothly. This can range from practical day-to-day tasks and helping guests to coordinating suppliers and organising social events.

What’s one part of your role that people might not realise has a big impact on the business?

A big part of my role involves ensuring employee well-being and happiness in the workspace. A happy team is very important I believe.

What’s it like working in the Copenhagen office?

I've always been very happy to work at the Copenhagen office because of the amazing atmosphere. People treat each other like family, and there has always been room to grow - with curiosity, inspiration, and the freedom to make mistakes along the way.

You organise a lot of the events and social activities at the Copenhagen office, which events have been your favourite to organise?

My most challenging and exciting event I planned was the global Women’s Day event. This was a bit different to what I had planned before, and it took a lot more people to make it into an event with a purpose. I felt like I got a chance to show the values that I carry with me, and got to share it with my coworkers.

When you’re not at work, what is the thing you enjoy doing most? When you’re not at work, what is the thing you enjoy doing most?

In my free time I enjoy my pilates classes the most. They always give me more energy, and can turn a bad day around.

Can you give three words that describe  " Life at Kuba" ?

 Exciting, challenging and community

What is your motto in life?

My favorite quote that represents my attitude to life is “What you don’t change, you choose”. This has pushed me many times to get an overview of my life decisions.
