In this interview we get to meet Yannick Nya, Banking Project Manager, who works in our office in France.

How long have you worked at Kuba?

I joined Kuba in May 2025, and I’ve been working here for over eight months.

Why did you choose Kuba?

I chose Kuba because its solutions make real-world impact. While they are technically complex, the experience they create is simple and makes mobility systems easier to manage and use. I was excited to get involved in the exciting space of open payments, collaborating closely with networks, banks, PSPs, and card schemes, and building systems that are reliable, compliant, and scalable.

What does your day-to-day work look like?

It's a mixed bag, including providing guidance, managing delivery and coordinating with large stakeholder groups. Day to day, I participate in ongoing work streams with banks and PSPs; translate business and partner needs into clear specifications; create roadmaps for delivery; assess risks, and ensure operational robustness; and support internal teams on by removing blockers and clarifying constraints.

How does your work help support our customers and partners?

I ensure integrations are smooth, predictable, and compliant. I do this by clarifying requirements early, aligning everyone on what “good” looks like, and delivering payment flows that are secure, stable, and scalable. More broadly, I work on payment solutions that best match our customers’ needs and create a simple, intuitive experience for end users, adapted to real, everyday use cases.

Can you give three words that describe “Life at Kuba”?

Fast, collaborative, impact-driven.

When you’re not at work, what is the thing you enjoy doing most?

Outside of work, I spend time on projects that I am passionate about, such as organising cultural events and exploring payment solutions for Central Africa, which helps me stay creative. I also rely on family, sports, and travel to recharge.

What is your motto in life / favourite quote?

Make it simple, make it reliable, and ship it with purpose.
